Asparagus, Mary Washington Seeds - Heirloom Seeds, Asparagus Seeds, Vegetable Seeds, Open Pollinated, Non-GMO
Mary Washington (Asparagus officinalis) is a perennial variety of green asparagus that is considered the standard. The 8" shoots are tender and possess a superb flavor, making them ideal for consuming fresh, canning, or freezing. Additionally, they are rust-resistant.
In the second year of growth, light harvesting can begin, with high yields commencing in year 3 and persisting thereafter.
To cultivate Mary Washington asparagus, soak the seeds for 24 hours before planting them. Start the seeds indoors, exposed to bright light, 8-12 weeks before the final frost of the season. After the last frost, transplant the seedlings into enriched, loosened soil.
