According to the story behind this variety, it was created by a tomato farmer who was on the brink of bankruptcy. He crossed some of his largest tomato varieties to develop this enormous and impressive fruit, which he then sold as seedlings for $1 each to pay off his $6000 mortgage in just 6 years.
