The perennial wildflower (Saponaria ocymoides) is a stunning addition to any garden with its charming pink blooms that form a beautiful ground cover. This plant is extremely easy to cultivate and can tolerate various soil types. It effortlessly naturalizes and is perfect for use as a groundcover, edging plant, or container plant. Additionally, the roots can be used to make soap. Bees find it highly attractive.

To cultivate: Sow the seeds outside in late fall or start them indoors 6-8 weeks before the last frost. Press the seeds lightly into the soil, but do not cover them since they need light to germinate. Keep the seedlings moist, and transplant them once they have developed several leaves.
