Toma Verde tomatillos, scientifically known as (Physalis ixocarpa), are a crucial ingredient for the preparation of delicious salsa verde and many other southwestern dishes. These tomatillos have a sweet and tangy flavor that adds a unique taste to any meal.
Similar to tomatoes, tomatillos have a large fruit encased in a papery shell that resembles a Chinese Lantern. However, tomatillos are more tolerant to heat and drought conditions than most tomatoes.
