Wild Sunflower Heirloom Seeds - Native, Non-GMO, Open Pollinated, Untreated, Flower Seeds
This annual (Helianthus annuus) is the original wild species that inspired the cultivation of sunflowers. Its towering stems bear multiple 3 to 6-inch flower heads ranging in color from orange to yellow, with brown to purple center disks. Native to areas west of the Mississippi River, this species is commonly found along roads, fences, and fields, and is even the state flower of Kansas.
These sunflowers are relatively hardy once established, tolerating heat and drought well. They bloom from mid-summer through fall and attract pollinators and birds. They're a great choice for borders, cottage gardens, bird gardens, wildflower and native plant gardens, or for creating a naturalized setting.
